Apply for the Global Fellows End of Life Care Project. Lead impactful projects that inspire reflection and advance the global conversation on end-of-life care.
The Global Fellows in End of Life Care project re-imagines one of our most transformative human experiences, our dying. Co-founded by the Completed Life Initiative and Death with Dignity, this Fellows program seeks to positively impact how we live our lives and how we die.
In this year-long program, a cohort of 5 to 10 Fellows create and complete projects to spark reflection and re-evaluation, and further the global conversation of end-of-life care. Applications for the 2024 Fellows project open August 23rd.
The year will begin with a virtual gathering in October 2024 and continue with an in-person Fellows Retreat in New Haven, Connecticut, and New York City. Subsequent monthly virtual gatherings will be led by Mark Barger Elliott, Executive Director of the Completed Life Initiative, and Peg Sandeen, CEO of Death with Dignity. Virtual gatherings will also include guest speakers who are experts in end-of-life care. All expenses for travel are covered and stipends for projects that require funding will be considered. Upon completion of the Fellows year-long individual project, a Fellow will be granted membership in the Global Fellows In End of Life Care Society.
This Fellows program has an interdisciplinary focus and welcomes applications from all career paths including, but not limited to, healthcare workers, medical and ethics researchers, lawmakers, activists, philosophers, playwrights, poets, and filmmakers. A successful candidate has a strong commitment to end-of-life care and is at any level of their career, although preference is given to those who are in an early to mid-level stage. Candidates will be asked to describe how this program, and specifically their project, will re-imagine and positively impact end-of-life care. Candidates from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply. Virtual meetings and in-person gatherings will be conducted primarily in English, proficiency is recommended.
