Bills Do Not Advance
HB5625 is introduced, a bill that would legalize Death with Dignity in Connecticut. This bill is referred to the Joint Committee on Public Health.
An opposition bill, HB5712, is also introduced, a bill that would mandate that the death certificate of a patient who chooses Death with Dignity as their end-of-life option must state that the cause of death is suicide. The bill is referred to the Joint Committee on Public Health for consideration.
Both bills die in committee after missing the deadline to advance it.
Bill Does Not Advance
SB1076 receives a public hearing in the Joint Committee on Public Health. The session ends, and the bill does not advance.
Despite Movement, SB88 Does Not Advance
The Connecticut General Assembly raises SB0088 and schedules a Public Health Committee hearing for February 23. The bill does not move forward.
Overwhelming Public Support for Bill
Introduced in March, HB5420, An Act Concerning Aid in Dying for Terminally Ill Patients, does not advance out of the Joint Committee on Public Health despite a favorable vote and overwhelming public support.

An Act Concerning End-of-Life Care (HB5417) is introduced in March. No action taken.

Representative Jonathan Steinberg (D) introduces HB6024, An Act Concerning Aid in Dying for Terminally Ill Patients, in January. The bill does not advance.
