The Nevada legislature introduces AB346, and the bill passes the Assembly. The bill fails after missing the committee deadline in May and the bill does not advance.

In March, Nevada lawmakers introduced SB239. The bill is referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services. In April, SB239 passed through the Health and Human Services Committee. On April 19, 2023 SB239 passed the Senate floor vote for the first time since 2017 and crossed over to the Assembly. On May 24, SB239 passed out of the Assembly with a floor vote of 23-19. The bill heads back to the Senate for concurrence and then to Governor Joe Lombardo’s desk. This is the furthest our bill has ever gotten toward passing in Nevada.

Despite overwhelming support, Republican Governor Joe Lombardo vetoes SB239 on June 5. The bill would have given over three million Nevadans access to medical aid in dying.

Nevada bills AB351 and SB105 are introduced and referred to respective House and Senate committees. Neither bill advances.

A Public Policy Polling survey reveals over 70% of Nevadans support Death with Dignity.

The Nevada Death with Dignity Act (SB165), passes out of the State Senate Health Committee but does not advance.

Nevada lawmakers introduce SB261, an assisted-dying bill, in March. The bill is heard in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, where it favorably passes. After passing a floor vote of 11 – 10, the bill moves to the Assembly, where it is assigned to the Assembly Committee on Health and Human Services. The committee takes no action.

Nevada legislature considers Patient Self-Determination Act (SB336). The Senate committee chair refuses to schedule a public hearing.
